Does the Christian faith still have a chance today, or is life not already colourful and stirring enough? Brother John has been living in the Taizé Community for over forty years. In his search for an answer to this question, he looks at the theological significance of Holy Saturday. This day between death and resurrection can make us understand faith anew as a radical, universal reality, as a way to a life of clarity and hope, a life in the world without being of the world.

Brother John, born in Philadelphia, USA, has been a brother of the Taizé Community since 1974 and has worked for many years on exegetical themes. His Bible studies with young people, who come to Taizé in their tens of thousands, have already resulted in several books published in many languages.
