Blessed in our human fragility
Baptism reveals Jesus as the beloved Son of God. Immediately afterwards, during the temptation in the desert, his identity is questioned: if he were really the Son of God, could he then be hungry, would he then have to fear death?
Often people drew mainly moral lessons from the so-called temptation story. In reality, it is one of the most profound texts on the mystery of Jesus: what does it mean for him to be the Son of God? In Jesus, what seems incompatible is united. There is a humanity of the Son of God.
This opens a path on which we too are blessed in our human fragility. Faith does not withdraw us from our humanity. It is the certain trust that God loves us even when we are weak and helpless.
The Taizé booklets seek to uncover paths to the essential sources of faith. Based on the experiences of the youth meetings around the community, they look at crucial questions for Christians today.
