"Rooted and built in Christ"
A reading of the Letter to the Colossians In this reading of the Letter to the Colossians, we first sketch out a possible scenario that helps to clarify the circumstances of its writing.
Finally, we arrive at the main theme of the letter from captivity: Christian maturity. Paul combats everything that doubts the fullness given in Christ. The Colossians would be rooted in Christ and built upon Him as they lived in gratitude for the gift they had received.
Likewise, they would be in the real instead of following a shadow. It is from this fullness that the ethical teaching of the letter is to be understood. When Paul invites us to "seek the things that are above", it does not mean to flee the earth, but to practice seeing all things from the perspective of the resurrection.
The Taizé booklets want to open up paths to the essential sources of faith. Based on the experiences of the youth meetings around the community, they take a look at crucial questions for Christians today.
