"Every human being longs for peace," says Brother Alois, prior of the religious community of Taizé. In a world defined by wars, terror and hunger, the unique music of Taizé can help listeners find a sense of inner peace and spiritual inspiration.

Taizé - Music of Unity and Peace is the community's first project with a major label. The pieces reproduce the welcoming, soothing sound of the voices of the international pilgrims who regularly gather at Taizé.

In 2015, Taizé celebrates its 75th anniversary. In all the decades during which it has grown as a refuge and popular pilgrimage destination for young people in particular, it has also developed - as if by itself - its own music. The pieces are sung in Latin, German, French, Italian and English, reflecting the international origins of the Taizé pilgrims.

Taizé - Music of Unity and Peace contains recordings with a small group of singers and instrumentalists, with brothers of the community and a small choir of young visitors. Some of the songs feature the combined voices of over 2500 worshippers, while others reflect the spirit of silence that so characterizes the communal prayers of Taizé.
