Walter Cardinal Kasper / Brother Alois
Brother Roger, founder of Taizé
Two reflections on his life
Two reflections on a life which, beyond its tragic end, continues to have an impact on the Church and on the world.
Walter Cardinal Kasper, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, sees in Brother Roger a symbol of spiritual ecumenism: carried by prayer and contemplation, he was led to an interior reconciliation without breaking with anyone. Brother Alois, Brother Roger's successor as prior of the community, shows how much the goodness of the heart in him was a reflection of God's love and how he became a witness of this love, especially for young people.
The Taizé booklets seek to open up paths to the essential sources of faith. Based on the experiences of the youth meetings around the community, they look at the crucial questions of Christians today.
