Thoughts written down in Taizé in chrono(in)logical order

Taizé - for so many people this small and inconspicuous village has become the centre of their personal faith. The encounter with the brothers there has set many people on their own path in a new way. Much has been written about this "little springtime for the Church". An infinite amount of theological and biographical literature now provides information about the development and spiritual direction of this community.

Rüdiger Dunkel writes about a week in Taizé, but above all about the thoughts that came to him one after the other during a week there. Thoughts about love, about the services and the music, about God and ecumenism, about life and people in Taizé and also about his own ways to God. With a twinkle in his eye, he invites you to dare to smile at your own memories, or to feel like finding the place where thoughts spread out your own life as well.

Rüdiger Dunkel, born in 1958 in Dinslaken on the Lower Rhine, has been a pastor in Bad Kreuznach and Winzenheim for more than 25 years. As a child he came into contact with the Taizé Community at the end of the 1960s, where he met Brother Roger and the brothers of the community. Longer stays there as well as regular meetings until today made this place in Burgundy his spiritual home. He writes chansons and lyrics. As a Lower Rhinelander, his literary model is Art van Rheyn, a lateral thinker and creator of numerous aphorisms, now deceased and well known to many in the Lower Rhine. In his tradition and in memory of him he wants his own aphorisms to be understood.
